May 11, 2022Lake Feeders
2 Heads are better than one when it comes to working out what is happening on lakes. One can be fishing one technique like stripping buggers another nymphing. Nothing better than sharing a day on the water with a mate. Pictures shown with fellow Turangi Guide Jason from Creel Tackle House. ...
April 28, 2022Plenty of North Island Fly Fishing Options
One of the myths is the North Island does not have quality trout and the South Island has all the trophy trout "brown trout in particular", well that depends on where you fish. Fact, the North Island has many fly fishing options, less pressure in places and a way higher per day catch rate. Would you rather fish with a guide for 4 days for one or two fish or have a fishing experience. A few recent trips photos explains its all....

February 10, 2022An Outstanding Season So Far - Trophy North Island Trout
This season has started with a bang, I suspect the trout have enjoyed the break from overseas tourist and lockdowns to breath, spawn unhindered and add weight. Some personal fishing for me, then I start the guided season....

I'm just back to reality after a fantastic trip in Turangi with the "Kereru" boys. A number of fish caught and some destined for the smoker! Plenty of anglers around and a super social place to hang out!...
August 2, 2021Some solid winter fishing in Turangi
Recent high water has pushed solid runs of fish into the Taupo system. It was great catching up with a few mates in Turangi this week, allowing for some time to brush up on my double hander fishing. Some solid takes on the swing and a short spell Czech nymphing the Kiwi way! Looking forward to some more action over the next few weeks....
July 22, 2021Closing day with a bang! New Zealand Styles
It certainly has been an epic season I've noticed a lot more anglers about than usual exploring the wide open New Zealand backyard, which is understandable in this current climate. Everyone is making the most of opportunities out with friends and in nature. I too finished the season out with a great day on the water with Jake. Some great specimens coming to the net. Now I turn my attention to Turangi and winter fishing. ...

June 28, 2021Timing is key! unbelievable action
A guides day off for me, into some off the scales short line fly fishing in Rotorua with Mark Gibb. A real privilege to get on quality water and experience an unforgettable morning of action. Fish over the last few weeks have had a lot pf pressure in the lower river reaches, So accessing water where the fish have had 7-10 days break was resulted in hungry fish. On top just after rain the fish were active on the chew. Average size of fish for the day around 6lb....enjoy!!...
